Bone Char is a black, granular solid obtained by calcining cattle bones. Through the calcining process crushed bone is stripped clean leaving carbon and tricalcium phosphate. Bone char has proven to be a valuable filtering media in the purification of sugar syrups, removing dissolved contaminants from aquarium water and removing fluoride from water. Bone char also has a high adsorptive capacity for lead, mercury and arsenic.
